Support for external UI buttons and display

Most ICT devices I've seen have external buttons and displays. The onboard UI buttons will wear out and be rather un-ergonomic for the operator. External buttons could be supported using an FTDI-based USB controller or screw terminals. The tiny LCD on the PLT is limited in viewable size and content displayed. The HDMI connector on the SBC could be brought to the rear of the PLT.

  Good thought.  We have ordered a 4-button peripheral that we will experiment with and we are tracking the exposed HDMI port on another post:
